Does anyone know the email address of Chuck Ianni (Ianni Butterflies)? Also, what happened with Miguel Serrano's "Tropical Butterflies" after his departure? Thanks,

I had heard that Chuck was not well. A reliable source and friend.
Miquel Serrano's stock was bought by Alex Bic. Mrs. Bic told me that the inventory was low. I believe Miquel's brother is still breeding and crossing Heliconia in Central America.
An anecdote:
Miquel told me years ago that he arrived in Florida to play violin in the Florida Orchestra. It paid $12,000 a year. It was not enough so he began to work another job. He was told he was only given a visa to work in the Florida Orchestra. Because of this, he began getting butterflies from his brother and selling them framed at a local flea market. It grew into a wholesale business later. When I began selling insects at a flea market, I met him through insectnet about 14 years ago. He was only a 45-minute drive away. I spent many afternoons at his house learning from him and his wife spent time with my daughters while we talked. He took the time to teach me and never charged for his time. A true gentleman. I still have some of his insects in my collection. My favorite is a little black and white Papilio collected in Comstock Bay Jamaica in 1959.

Very sad news. I’ve been buying specimens from Chuck for nearly three decades. There’s never been a more reliable and trustworthy dealer in my experience. RIP Chuck. You will always be fondly remembered.

Very sad to hear this. I made quite a few purchases from Mr. Ianni over the years (and as recently as last March), and he really helped to grow my collection.

This is just heartbreaking news. I was worried that he might not be well as he had not been updating his site as frequently as he always seemed to in the last few months. He was so easy to work with and trustworthy. I will miss him.

I think it would be a nice (and fitting tribute) to dedicate a thread to Mr. Ianni and his longtime services. Members could show some of their fine insect treasures that they acquired from him over the years.
Whether they be common goods, some rarities, or just items of sentimental meaning; they all had to pass through his hands to get to you.
Not many people have the interest or the dedication to fuel the passion of so many others over such a long time and in such a niche hobby.

He will indeed be missed. Chuck was a man of honor and integrity through all the years. I’ve bought insects from him for decades and never did he do me wrong. In fact, he was always pleasant and desired to please his customers….which he did. I consider myself fortunate to have known as I have. RIP Chuck. I got many leps from Chuck. I really like the genus Euxanthe. Two of my favorites came from him back a bunch of years. E. eurinome….top E. crossleyi…..bottom
