If you wish to place an order with bioquip now you must go to their website Bioquip.com
I tried to phone in an order but they are no longer taking orders that way. However, I was told that the numbers are always changing on the products that they still have because sometimes customers cancel their order; thus putting those items back into the system.
So, there still is time to maybe get something from them before they are gone...

Got an e-mail yesterday from Bioquip offering all books at 40% discount. mjh I wonder if the book prices currently shown on their website are reflective of the 40% discount? I think they do reflect the 40%, In was thinking about that myself last night, and compared prices with books that were just bought a few months ago, and the prices are lower, I am assuming by the 40%. A lot of books in the catalogue. You also apparently need to place an order by March 4rth, so they can finish up by the 11th- 75 years, a good run by any measure, whatever the reasons all were, I think they ran their own business just fine. Exactly the way I ran my own businesses.

I want a 250W MV but they jacked the price up to 450 bucks now. I wonder if they even have lights in stock anymore?

I have a 250W MV light system from BioQuip. Where the heck would I go to find a replacement bulb now? I guess I better protect the one I have like it's made of gold.
I just tried to order two replacement bulbs... just in case... I've never broken a bulb yet, but they don't last forever.
Let's now see if BioQuip actually has them for me???

So, it's probably all over now for me and Bioquip, today what's probably my last FedX delivered Bioquip box arrived. I never had an issue with Bioquip, or FedX, unlike USPS, perhaps there was a reason they preferred the more often expensive FedX? Did I need the items I just bought? Not right now, they were examined and are now safely stored away.
As someone who owned his own businesses, I understood why prices go up, and that other costs go up, my last Bioquip catalogue from 2008 has very different prices, when I was contracting, I had to put time limits on my estimates, otherwise some person, would call up 2 years later and say- "hey man, how about doing that project for the prices you quoted 2 years ago?" More than I person wanted to sue, then we put time limits on all quotes and contracts.
At any rate, one stop shopping for science was pretty good while it lasted, and unless I get a windfall pretty quick. I wish them well.

Why don’t the boys continue with the operation? Maybe the heydays are over and the junk on Amazon is killing them ? Next best place for envelopes? Pins? I didn’t think I needed to buy anything and just had a panic attack that there is one item only available from BQ that’s a critical asset. Gotta run! Black & stainless pins at Indigo Instruments. No free shipping so cost of 1 or 2 may seem high but way cheaper than Amazon if you need more. Curious as what the critical item from BQ is.

Sad but predictable news... Bioquip has never entered the 21st century. There is a HUGE business to do with entomological supply worldwide. They just needed to be active on social networks, entomological forums and selling on Amazon as Restcloud is doing. If I were American I would try to buy Bioquip and make it something huge. For our American friends, there are plenty of suppliers in Europe or Canada, but there is now a huge gap in the USA. Hope someone smart will soon fill this gap. Definitely a niche worth exploring but beware that Amazon will target you. Whoever runs with this ball will need to do their homework.

First, let me address the culling of words out of my post. Doing such things are no different from the posts which appear on Fakebook and are replaced by Fakebook lies and bull###. That is why Fakebook has lost many millions of users every single year of its existence. These actions piss people off, and some stupidly ask where are the more experienced persons and familiar names on this forum. Where have they gone? Answer they have gone away, they don't need to deal with this controlling crap. I never authorized anyone changing my opinions and words. Don't like something, ignore it. What makes what you think is any more relevant that what I think? Who made you the word police? No doubt some fool will delete my post here. Why, because you are afraid others who you want to control will hear of the truth I am speaking here about. Most members appear to be from here in the USA where free speech is a right of the citizens. You have no right to censor anything for any reason. This will continue until some pissed off persons files multiple suits denying our constitutional right of freedom of speech. People in this country are rejecting censorship on a grand scale. Well, so be it. Now you know what has happened to all of the more knowledgeable entomologist who longer find this forum worth their time.

Regarding Canadian supplier. Think about this matter. First this Canadian company will have to pay a significant import duty and high shipping costs to obtain these products. Then when they ship them to you, the end recipient will most probably have to pay an import duty to receive them in the USA. This in addition to the extreme postal and shipping rates we are now paying. You will need to make a personal loan to buy insect pins. Costlier items will be extremely expensive.

I get my insect pins from a guy in Windsor, Ontario. Only around $6 Cdn per 100 pins. Plus he makes good quality Cornell drawers, cabinets as well as spreading boards. The pins would be minimal shipping and duty if any would be minimal on $6 a pack.

mothman55 How many of us actually order pins by the 100? Don't think I have ever ordered less than 10,000 pins in the past 50 years. Last bulk order by me was 16,000 pins. All bulk orders I have placed were directly from the manufacturer in order to get a better price and reduce repeated shipping charges. For that matter, I have been a Bio Quip customer since 1968, but only last year did I place my first order for pins from Bio Quip, as I needed only about 1000 #7 pins. I do these things because I am not wealthy. Currently, we have recently cut back on our lifetime of collecting, but I do not believe we will be ordering any more pins as I have an inventory of about 120,000 unused new pins at this time, which no doubt will outlive me. In the good old days (1970s) the highest quality black enameled spring steel pins were $3.00/1000 US retail. Here is one of the pin holders sitting here currently on my work desk. When I am processing specimens I empty this pin holder in a few days.

Most people don’t order pins by the 10000’s. Vernon, you collect more than anyone else in North America probably. That’s an outlier statistic, not representing the typical hobbyist entomologist. I order pins by the hundreds and they last me years.
Free speech is a right with limits. All freedoms come with responsibility. The KKK for example cannot go around saying whatever they want and claim they have such freedom. That freedom stops when their language becomes hate speech. I did not see what was deleted from your post and I am not passing judgment on whatever you said. This is simply a general statement refuting the idea that freedom of speech has no limits.
