Our dear friend Fred Gerrits passed away on 8th March 2022 after a long illness. Fred has described several lepidoptera species including a lot of new Delias taxa, like Delias hemianops. He had one of the largest Delias collection that he donated to an Australian museum. I know he has worked on several other genera too. I had the pleasure to exchange a lot of Papuan Delias specimens with him (and also some Parnassius from Nepal that he collected himself) A major loss for our community. RIP Fred !

I think Teinopalpus imperialis gerritesi Nakano, 1995 from Nan, Thailand was probably named after him. The Japanese part of the text mentions "Dr. F. Gerrites". Presumably this is a misspelling of his name.

(an additional "t") 2 splendid taxa, 2 mispells. Knowing Fred, he must have found that funny !

The Delias species represented is the ultra-rare Delias neeltje described by Fred Gerrits and Henk van Mastrigt in 1993.
