During the 2009 Insect Trade fair in Paris, Juvisy (France), several specimens were proposed between 60-120 EURO.
The bid on eBay is just ridiculous.

He told me that he sold one for $1200 a couple of weeks ago. There are a few crazy collectors with more money than sense, which just makes sellers think they can get ridiculous prices continually. Personally I think $50 is a fair price for this particular species.

while there are people who will pay that amount sadly the prices will never fall to a realistic level.

Well there's many 1000$ species that have fallen under 100$. This seems like a good candidate

And all by the same dealer. Someone is making a shedload of money out of this '$50' butterfly!

Yup,
The guy who collected them and sold them to "Good-in-China" for $500 each!!!
Actually he's almost certainly a middleman anyway, so he probably bought them from the collector for $10 each, if that.
Adam.
