Oops, I forot to mention to Bill O. that I think the Catocala briseis caught last night is a new entry for LaSalle Co. in ILL.
Also, Catocala parta from LaSalle Co. is new for this year. I will send you my yearly Catocala report later in the fall.
bugboys3, That C. ilia you showed us in Reply 13 looks to me to be a C. ilia form osculata.
Holy cow Bill, you're good. I just checked at your site and the C. briseis is already entered for LaSalle Co. You are indeed on top of things.

Eric, I wish permission to add your image, credited to you, of marmorata to North Carolina file and to marmorata file on North American Catocala site. Nice picture! I would really like to get a picture of a live one, flashing its hind wings. Bill Oehlke

Last night was a good night for C. relicta. Had to quit a 1:00 a.m. because I had to teach school the next day. Incidently, I took my morning coffee out to the sugared spots not expecting to find anything, but yep, the late arrivals were adjacent to the slop spots on the tree. I then added two more that were resting some 3-5 ft. from the slop.
Message here----remember to check the sugared spots areas the next morning for those late arrivals that decide to rest nearby.

Another Peoria County record for Catocala relicta. A friend of mine collected one at his garage light in the very early morning. But the data should actually read, IL: Peoria County. Dunlap. 17-IX-2011. A very white specimen much like the one that got away from me about 11 years ago in Bartonville. Jeff Prill

Good thread, very informative. Will I have any luck tree tapping if there are no hardwoods in my area(Northern Indiana)? It is mostly maple, ash, boxelder, cottonwood, tulip tree, some hackberry and cherry. So far in previous years I have found C. ultronia, C. neogama, C. minuta and C. amatrix. will I find many more?
