I got the male below and I'm really not sure with the subspecies. If the label is right with Nigeria, it must be schultzei, right? I have not seen many schultzei, but this specimen doesn't look like one to me. The shape of the forewings is not like the males of schultzei I have seen. The pattern of the hindwings also. But note the pattern of the forewings, especially the strong white stripe at the base. Hannes Attachments:

Rather dubious. I have seen many schultzei from north-west Cameroun and never saw any red/reddish at the base of the forewings which, by the way, are also less falcate.

I assume you are referring to Luigi Puiu. I didn't hear about the nobilis with fake data, only rex.

as I remember, he sold nobilis coming from "Sudan" and some strange datas also concerning nireus group (John may help much on this).

I don't trust the label (I almost never do this). What do you think which ssp. it is? I don't know the differences between mimeticus, commixtus and the nominate.

Why? How can commixtus be identified?

I have some specimens of commixtus and will post photo's if you require. They are different from your specimen. When i first looked at your specimen i thought mimeticus,as i have just been setting some.It is also very variable,in both size and colouration.

The photo of commixtus. I have a specimen of mimeticus on the board now with a faint white stripe on the forewings, but nowhere near as pronounced as your specimen. Also if someone is trying to sell a 'fake' they are going to ring a common species, and there have been a lot of mimeticus for sale lately Attachments:
