Oliversch lovely croesus forms. What a stunning butterfly this is. I can remember when I first bought this species many years ago when it first became widely available on the market. Those first specimens took my breath away its beauty is so great. I think I would have had the same reaction as Wallace if I had discovered the butterfly. nomad

O. priamus urvillianus Gynandromoprph Never seen anything quite like that, must be very rare, perhaps one of a kind. I think Wallace would have and many others would like to own one of those. Brings to mind, agriaslovers mosaic Gynandromorph, probably also unique. nomad

I have just remembered A. S. Meek took a took a urvillianus Gynandromorph in the Solomon Islands on Guadalcanal [1901]. He says "I captured a female urvilliana with black not brown fore-wings showing distinct traces of the blue male. It is a thing I had been looking for for many years, and this was the nearest approach to both sexes in the one insect that I have ever seen". This specimen should be in the British Museum. nomad
