CETONIDAE G goliathus quadrimaculatus male FULL WHITE!!! Cameroon TOP RARITY!!! A++++ I don't think that it's quite A++++. even if he listed this as A- hairline scratches, it would still bring a high price. still a nice goliathus though. bit of a clean and it will be a nice addition to a collection

Hi everybody, Before talking about this guy, I would like to introduce myself, so that my message won't be anonymous. My name is François Bondil, I study Nymphalidae from french Guiana and sometimes sell insects on ebay or during european insects fairs ... I'm sure some members on this forum already know me, for I' ve seen messages showing specimens I have sold in Juvisy.
The guy you're talking about is called Berder Loïc (Brest, France), lb29200 on ebay ... I met him on ebay, he was interested in exchanging some french guianan material ...
To understand what will follow, you must know that a lot of species can be hard to get in french Guiana while they are very easy to get at cheap price from other places such as Peru, and that some of our subspecies are considered as really uncommon.
He proposed me many interesting species, hard to get from french Guiana ... but I realize later that all his material came from ohter places, ... I have received some subspecies that doesn't occur in french Guiana. For example, I have received a Polygrapha xenocrates that was supposed to be punctimarginale ssp. (subspecies from guianas) ... it was clearly not punctimarginale ssp. but just nominal subspecies from Peru. Difference of prices between these ssp. is really big !!!
I realised later, looking at his feedback that he had bought from ebay all the species I needed ... telling me they came from french guiana. When I discovered his ***ing game ... I contacted him and he told me I was right ... he had lied, knowing that I needed this material for publications !!!!! Be sure I will use my hands if I find his face in front of me ...
Almost the same thing happened to a friend of mine (Jean-louis Giuglaris from entomoservice) ... he exchanged a Psygmatocerus that was supposed to be guianensis (a real rarity !) for interesting guianan species ... when my friend received the specimen, it appeared to be wagleri (very common in Brazil) ... these two species are very similar but my friend has been studying cerambycidae for 20 years an can easily tell one from the other. When my friend contacted him, he never answered !
To resume, this guy is dishonest and try to earn money by everyway ... and even stupid enough to try to swindle people that are almost specialists.
All the best from France to both of you, François

It is a real shame when people falsify data with intentions to make more more money-I have heard many stories about Li Jingki, and others who fake their data. Sorry to hear this Francois.

Hello
Certainly many strange things with this seller. I contacted him for buying some goliathus, but the prices asked were quite crazy regarding the market prices for these in market, so I declined. That's normal, it's just a negotiation, but what I find strange is that I also saw an auction of a 71mm Mecynorrhina savagei last week I think from this seller. This is a good size, but even in the most expensive scenario this beetles can't be worth more than 70-80$ (with awesome luck...) Well, this beetle of this seller ended in 500$!!! I hardly doubt that anyone would pay this, even a drunk rich person bidding... Anyways, other beetles end at more reasonable prices. Don't know why the seller does that, but not sense ot profit at all... I also noticed other seller wich the same style of auctions than this one (even the same letter size, type of photos, specimens, etc...) and with many bids of this other seller... So not good signs at all.
Regards
