Hi people, I went to French Guyane during Nov 2007. The weather was hot but excellent for moths. Butterflies are not easily accessible as they fly in the dense jungle which normally is impenetrable. However their quality is normally at B+ level, very rarely A1-. I remember we hired a camper from a guy called Jean-Bernard. I cannot find his email address on my address book but I remember he had a website so you can get in touch with him from there. Collecting there is easily an no one ever annoyed us. I can say that it is a safe place for collectors as well, especially if one sticks to the paths and roads. Enjoy your trip to Panama.

Hi people, Collecting there is easily an no one ever annoyed us. I can say that it is a safe place for collectors as well, especially if one sticks to the paths and roads. Nowadays, it's not so true ! The last few years a real increase in crime in French Guiana. Not to mention the areas, more or less remote, where prospect illegal gold miners, it should be noted that illegal (Brazilian or Surinamis, mainly) represent a danger along some axes. For example, the National Highway 2, from Oyapock (Brazil) to Cayenne. A single person can be a victim of thieves. The cities of Guyane resemble more those of Brazil, where every house is barricaded with barbed wires, electric fences, etc.. For cons, the country remains calm outside these areas or routes.
