This is an interesting subject to investigate the genetic relationships between these populations. These subspecies might deserve species status, which might be important when it comes to conservation issues (and species trade). In case these populations are not reproductively isolated and represent local color forms, preissi, orientalis, meleagris and usambarensis might not be considered anymore. There should be done a molecular analysis to rule out the possibility of hybridization, particularly in putative transition zones that are poorly known. However, the problem is that purchased specimens not necessarily come with reliable data - so you have to collect by yourself. Best regards, Robert www.coleop-terra.com/
