Oddly enough a lot of scotch whiskeys are aged in old bourbon casks.

The were 55 Fundamentalist Evangelical Christian men who wrote and signed the Declaration of Independence and or the Constitution of the United States who created democracy that resulted in the United States of America. Many of you live in countries that are democracies, others of you do not.
Those Christian men set in motion a country that became the most powerful nation this planet will has ever seen. We are free because of those Christian men and their faith in God. We are the envy of the world. Our freedom is not free. It has been paid in for by the blood and lives of Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of this great nation.
I understand evolution. However, this Universe and our planet did not just happen. Something made all this happen. Something made that “Big Bang” that started it all. I believe that something is God. There is a right and there is wrong. There is good and there is evil. Be careful who you mock.
I live in the United State of America, in the Great State of Kentucky, Bourbon was created where I live in Georgetown, KY by a Baptist Minister. Another fine Evangelical Christian man. The water for that Bourbon came from the Royal Spring in downtown Georgetown. And in Kentucky the Moon really does come over the Mountains in Gallon Jugs.................

A person of faith can be motivated by that faith to further the desire for knowledge. The father of genetics is attributed to a monk. Whether or not there is a deity, the belief in one seems to motivate people to benefit their fellow humans. While I don't seem to have a faith, I appreciate the efforts of those who do. Having said that, I understand that there are those who use religion to control the masses or justify actions.

This is probably prolonging the pain - but here are some quotes from some of the better known "fundamentalist founders" of the US of A. While many of these men were indeed products of their times, many others were critical thinkers, capable of analyses that would get them in trouble on the Fox Corp Propaganda network (and MSNBC for that matter as well!).
"I have examined all the known superstitions of the world, and I do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They are all alike, founded on fables and mythology. Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth." -Thomas Jefferson
"What has been [Christianity's] fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution." -James Madison
"There is nothing which can better deserve our patronage than the promotion of science and literature. Knowledge is in every country the surest basis of public happiness." -George Washington
On a more personal note, I do thank God for the invention of Bourbon, and suspect he had it in mind as the perfect complement for two of his earlier creations - warm summer afternoons and finely aged cigars.
I plan to enjoy all three later today...
