FYI---I emailed the seller over a week ago and gently warned him of the problem with this listing and I was ignored......for a week until it was just pulled. Perhaps he received a stronger warning from sources more powerful than I. Glad for all involved/potentially involved that it no longer exists

I followed the link yesterday, and noticed that the seller is supposedly in the USA, hmmmmmmmm, also it listed 2 specimens already sold. The Feds will be after them now then!
Local dealers in the Philippines have been trying to sell chikae for years, but because of CITES it is impossible to sell them even though they dropped the price to almost nothing. That's surely why they are shipping them as hermeli nowadays.

yes, if you remember I had this problem a while back where I bought a job lot of hermeli males which turned out to be chikae, they turn up at insect fairs too where people mark them out as hermeli, I can tell the difference in them without examining them now, one seller was even selling them at the AES fair at Kempton park London, he must have been mad, you cant get away with anything there. We all know trade in the "big 4" goes on but the be this open on the worldwide market is just asking for trouble.

Same here, I still can see the listing, price is dirt cheap if what he is selling is indeed P. chikae. But then, have a look at his feedback, plenty of people complaining of getting the wrong species from him, different sizes etc...

Plenty of people complaining? He has a 98.7 percent feedback rating! Even if it is the wrong species, then it's probably hermeli, which sells for a lot more than $30

Many years ago I ordered a Papilio hermeli from an established well-known on-site dealer. That order sat around for some months before I got around to mounting the specimen. It turned out to be Papilio chikae. The availability of this species seems abundant and can, unintentionally, sometimes slip past even the most seasoned dealer. I'm sure F&W ,monitoring this site, will pay him a visit since he is knowingly advertising it as one of the big 5. They will certainly confiscate his computer to find out who has bought the others and, if it is anyone here in the USA they will be questioned. It isn't worth it.

No, the Philippines dealers were trying to sell males of this for $6 each a few years ago, but even at that price it's just not worth the risk to buy them. Silly regulation really, but what can you do, laws are laws. Adam.
