Dear all I have some form, aberrations of Papilio machaon melitensis which I would like to share with you and talk about maybe you have encountered these as well. I will start by this one which is one of my favourite. A wild collected female P.m.melitensis with a very beautiful blue sheen that can be seen only at some angles of reflecting light. The underside is also great and it is golden near ocelli with some blue on forewing. Other forms and aberrations will be uploaded later on. I wonder if there are names for this one.

I'm afraid I can't help out with the question of the particular form name for this but just had to comment that it's a STUNNING example. Well done on obtaining this Simon

That is absolutely spectacular, thanks so much for sharing it. If there's no name for this aberration I'd like to suggest ab.inspergenda-caeruleae. (I think that means 'dusted with blue'...)

Hi Aldo, This wild caught specimen has both the blue and ochre on the underside of the forewings and now that I'm mentioning ochre...one of my favorite wild caught Gozitan specimens.....

Any chance of posting a link to a photo somewhere that people like me who can't open Facecrud can see them? Thank you.
Adam.
