Dear Wollastoni I guess you must be really irritated with Furuya's paper because it contains so many rare and beautiful Delias figures but you cannot understand the content at all. For your peace in mind, I give you my poor translation. "Due to the volcano eruption in 1994, most people in Rabaul moved to Kokopo, located 30 km SE. Now the local govenment of West New Britain Province is shifting its headquarter to Kokopo. On the other hand, most farmers moved to the forest of Warangoi which stretches northen slope of Mts. Baining. There they started slash-and-burn farming. Furthermore Chinese company started logging. As a result, the good habitats of Delias salvini and Delias lytaea had been lost. The author has never seen Delias salvini since 2008, however I observed Delias lytaea several times at the garden of the hotel in Kokopo." (Furuya, pp16-17) Have a nice day. Mokky

Thank you for the translation mokky, yes it is frustrating to see so many good articles about entomology only in Japanese.
Very bad news about those biotopes in Bismarck Archipelago... if Chinese logging companies are there, all interesting species like Delias salvini will soon disappear.
