Me in the hat. To my right is my friend, co-worker, and co-collector, Paul. (Having a local Congolese drive you around, when outside the city, is practically a must... so much trouble saved at the military checkpoints.) The rest are some of the street boys we work with. I've since had to put together a number of extra nets for them... got tired of watching unknown species fly past while the boys were off with my net chasing grass yellows. Photo taken while on a hike to the hills surrounding Bunia.

Me with a few of my drawers at a mall outside of Toledo. You have quite a bit of stuff. Did you collect most of the specimens?

Hello Joee30,
That species is notorious for landing on humans. One started landing on a friend of mine last summer so he decided to offer it some beer. Then his wife caught him and asked what he was doing and his reply was "Getting a butterfly drunk"

View AttachmentMight have to fly over there this year. I've gone to many of the previous ones, but have missed the past 4 years. I'm going to try and make it back to So Cal in April, and hopefully can do some collecting.

Hello Joee30,

Then his wife caught him and asked what he was doing and his reply was "Getting a butterfly drunk" They are interesting critters those Hackberry butterflies are. lol We got a few of them drunk on apple moonshine in a sponge. we had to coax then on to it, and once they were on, they were getting their drink on. lol
