Well here I am again having a good old moan. I recently sold some coleoptera specimens (last week) to an ebay member (fluq5348) in spain. He has purchased from me previous to this sale which went fine. He paid me three days after this sale had ended so i packed them up and shipped them the day after that. Yesterday, suprisingly, i found that he had left me one positive and five negative feedback, but with all the same reply? when he won the items in the auction, he sent me a meassge which read.. "He comprado algunos articulos suyos y quisiera si es posible aglomerarlos en un solo envio es posible??" I translated on the internet, and this is what it translated to... "I bought some of his articles and would like if possible to agglomerate in one shipment is possible ??" I get the impression that he is asking me if i can combine shipping fees for him......No problem...my postage description sates this anyway. I did not reply, but sent him the combined shipping fees, to which, He paid... When i asked him why he had left me the negative feedback, his response was "Intente ponerme en contacto con usted en reiteradas ocasiones y me fue imposible contactar, para mi eso es negativo." which translates as... "Try to contact you repeatedly and it was impossible to contact, for me that's negative." He asked me once and once only to combine postage for him...i never answered, just did it....he paid....i sent. Now the feedback i recieved stated this.... "Material ok pero no existe comunicacion con el vendedor no contesta a ningun ema" which translates as.. "Material ok but there is no communication with the seller does not reply to any ema" So it looks like i got negative feedback for good material but no communication.......... ebay sellers, just be aware of this member......

The cost of being a near-perfect seller on Ebay is outrageous. Sellers have to bend over and absorb huge costs via refunds and returns from idiots. This is promoted by Ebay. Remember when Ebay allowed feedback on buyers? That's gone now.
I try to NOT sell anything via Ebay.

Exactly and you don't have any chances ebay will delete that nonsense of a feedback. Ebay is focussed on the buyers because they think that a platform where all the buyers are, is so attractive for the sellers that they will accept bad treatment and high fees...

Hello
Being native spanish speaker what I can tell you is that you understood correctly the situation, so it's not a translation misunderstood. You suffered a pretty unfair situation. Probably this customer doesn't understand a word of english and probably it's not familiarized with ebay. It's the only reason I can find for someone to contact in spanish instead of english a person who lives uk and sells on ebay uk, ask about something wich is clearly stated on item description and to leave negative feedback for an insignificant detail. Some people, specially novices on ebay, think that a negative feedback it's no so important, so you may find some picky customer that left a negative feedback for just a small thing like not emailing back, even if you did it as he asked on the mail. They don't get the importance of this bad feedback. This said, if the feedback was unfair you still have some options, you can ask him to change his evaluation explaining the situation, and even in last term, I think ebay can do something too. But the truth is that ebay sellers we are always the perjudicated when something goes wrong, even if we have the reason... But ebay tends to protect the buyer above everything, so there is no more solution that bend over and accept it. I hope you can solve the situation.
Regards

I believe this buyer has a feedback score of 33 or something like that. I asked him to please re think his decision and he said he would change it to negative. He then said he didn't know how to do it so i explained to him how to reverse the feedback, but he still hasn't done it. You are right about bending over backwards to try and help people, but to be honest, after thinking about it, i am not going to contact him any more. I will leave the feedback as it is and i have now blocked him, so hwe will not be buying from me again, which is a shame as he purchased some nice items from me. thanks for all your kind words pete

I think I would start a case with ebay. I had a similar situation several years ago and they forced the person to adjust the negative feedback to neutral.

The person in question has just contacted me wanting to turn all the negative to positive? ?? He said he didn't know how to do it. Neither did i. I have just checked youtube and there's a tutorial showing you how to send a request to the buyer asking to re think their post. hopefully this will work. It just disheartens you when you try hard to make a good name for yourself on ebay as a reliable seller with good dispatch times and packing etc...

Hello Yes, it works like that. You have to send the request to the buyer for changing feedback. I did it once with one customer, he bought like 10 coleoptera and left 9 positive and 1 negative, I asked why and he told me one megasoma mars he received (wich he got at very cheap price btw) had one pin hole. I wrote him that this was clearly stated in the description (as expinned specimen). So he told me there was no problem, that he didn't realised that a negative was so bad (for him was a 9/10, a very outstanding mark. But I had to explain that it doesn't work like that) and offered to change the feedback. Also you have a limit for this. I'm not sure to remember but it has a limit of 5 each year, so in any case of other feedback mistake, you may reach the yearly top Regards

as i remember there is another problem endemic to eBay that begiineers doesn't understand. If you put a quite negative advice (via the stars) on one purpose (like communication with seller) and if you choose to post "positive feedback", then eBay refuses it (as one was negative).

More than likely a newbie. Agreed, he didn't realize how upseting or seemingly damaging negative feedback can be. He probably got a bit annoyed about not having his message returned, some peeps like to keep updated. Or at least have emails returned. I always notice when I take the time to wright a message and it's answered or not. It's nice to have the recipient aknowledge this and respond to sent messages. You could call it 'courtesy' or 'cyber etiquette'.

Here are my thoughts on selling on Ebay and other: if you sell generic stuff that just anyone might buy, positive feedback is important. However, if you sell unique and/or expensive items the buying market is much more limited. In that case you are more likely to know the buyers, and they know you. In that case, your Ebay reputation has far less impact than if you sell generic junk.
I don't really care what my feedback rating is. The product is going to sell to serious buyers who will pay top dollar anyway.

You could call it 'courtesy' or 'cyber etiquette'. The thing is. the question asked was "can you combine postage for me" this message was sent after he had purchased the goods. I didn't answer him because i did what he asked and sent a combined invoice, to which he would have received an automated message from ebay stating that i had done so anyway!! He has changed 4 of the 5 negative to positives and left one negative so the damage is still there. It's obvious to me that he has meant to do this for whatever reason i don't know. i contacted ebay at least 7 times regarding the issue, but they haven't replied. I told the buyer to leave the feedback as negative and blocked him....can't be bothered anymore
