Congratulations jonathan on that sharp detective work ! Looks to me like you nailed it. As I mentioned in my above post to mothman27: When someone has a credible idea to put forth they will most likely post it (eventually). Seitz is still an indispensable piece of work. Wish I had some of it. Mothman27: I also find nothing unreasonable or objectionable about your posts. I just think the word "rare" is bandied about far too often in this science and, sellers are far too quick to post ridiculous prices on things they themselves have never seen or had the chance to collect. Bandrow's above post and comment regarding obscurity vs. rarity is indeed very much true.

Speaking of Seitz, I acquired a complete set in 1985. I scanned all the Plates in 2004. I store the scans on a Lap Top that is not connected to the internet and also store them on CD's and on a remote hard drive.
I sold the complete set of scans for several years on CD,s. I am sure that someone out there is still selling the scanned set now. Over the years I have scanned many of the older and or rare works. I went through all that work and rarely ever use them. Some I have never looked at since I scanned them. On the other hand it was winter work.
I have never really figured out why I went through all that work to make copies. My darling wife claims it comes from years of smelling moth balls, Cyanide, PDB, Ethyl Acetate and the after effects of Waffle Houses!
After all, I only collect North American material for the most part.
