One of my most prized possessions a male priamus given to me by a dear friend, taken by the great A S Meek, I have a picture of the label somewhere which I will add in due time, it looks as fresh as if it was caught yesterday.

Great to have a Meek specimen, especially such a nice one. I have a pair of Meek Parides ascanius, he did a venation study on the female and removed all the scales from one wing.

Johnny Strange, Meek never went to collect butterflies in South America and he never was interested in a private collection. If Meek set a birdwing himself he usually did a very good job.

I was told that Meek most definitely carried out a venation study on the P. ascanius female I have. Presumably he set the specimen himself, purely for the venation study. I was given the specimen as a gift, the person who gave it to me is very familiar with Meek's work. I posted a photo of the butterfly previously on insectnet in the favourite specimens. The label on the specimen is right under the body, almost welded to the legs and I'm a bit loathe to try and move it for fear of damaging the specimen.

I know what you mean Johnny, I almost ruinerd a Fruhstorfer label removing it to photograph, sometimes it's just not worth it.
