Hello, I'm Marco Selis, an Italian entomologist mainly interested in Hymenoptera. I've been working on world Vespidae in the last 8 years and described more than 30 new species. Recently I started studying Italian Chilopoda too.
I joined this community mainly to find other entomologists interested in exchanging insects, as I'm always willing to get new wasps for my collection. If you are interested in exchanging specimens and in Italian insects, just write me a message!

Hi! I'm from Virginia and my niece and I like to catch and keep insects as pets. Could use some help as I'm currently having problems and wish to know more about insect care. I have lots of questions. My favorite insects are beetles of the Scarab family. We currently own a female cave cricket, a male American carrion beetle, a male darkling beetle and a male meadow katydid. All are wild caught. Oldest insects we've ever own, however the carrion beetle and katydid we found as adults so we don't know how old they exactly are. The carrion beetle is my favorite. He's cute and easy to please(other bugs are a bit finicky)I've had my carrion beetle for about 8 months now. I wish I knew how long they live.

Hello,
I'm from northeastern Brazil. I don't collect and raise pet insects, but i study them from a taxonomic point of view in all development stages. I love Geotrupid beetles, they are truly beautiful. I'm here to learn more about insects in general and share what i've learned with you all!

Greetings all. I am pretty sure years ago I was registered here, but cannot remember what email address I may have used. I used to be an avid collector of Ornithoptera about fifteen years ago, but the hobby grew stale due to the USFWS hassle and paucity of good specimens available in the US. I was lucky to catch the window when all of the victoriae were coming out of the Solomon Islands. The hobby seemed to be dying in general. But I have a renewed interest in Leps, mostly moths now.

Welcome! Are you in PA? O victoriae remain common in Solomon Islands. Since those days almost 20 years ago, the CITES ban on SI Ornithopera exports has been lifted. However, US law was never updated to reflect that. It may be as simple as having your local politician introduce a bill to correct the oversight. I don’t know why USFWS doesn’t do it, they must be aware of this- though I’m sure they still enforce it for some reason. Chuck

Hi everyone! I'm about to graduate college in the arts field, but I've always had an interest in butterflies and moths since childhood. I'm currently considering raising them as a future hobby. Looking forward to learning a lot here!

Hey! I'm from Ottawa Ontario and I'm always finding unique and strange looking bugs. Can't wait to see what others are finding and posting a few of my own.
