Hello everyone, I have been a member for quite a while, but this is my first actual post. My business is steadily growing and I want to take it to the next level, but am very very green on the legal aspects of the insect trade. I am based in Arizona, and up until now I have been selling my shadow box and dome displays at craft fairs, and by commission. I would like to begin importing some specimens, as well as offering them for sale online. I have applied and received my U.S. Fish and Wildlife I/E License. When speaking with an agent on the phone about it, he recommended I inquire about a USDA permit "if" it is necessary, as well as AZ Game & Fish; again "if" it is necessary. He basically told me I don't want to get into trouble ever with animal trades, and avoid fines, license revocation, or prison time. I am slowly reading through CITES information - but it is a lot to digest. Basically I would like to begin listing my bugs, and frames that are ready now on my Etsy to start so I can legally ship within the U.S. to buyers; and then when I am ready and have learned the proper ins and outs of importing I want to start importing some specimens. I thank you all in advance for any input you can give on this topic. Cheers -Christopher
