Last night, this wasp-like insect flew into my living room. It was yellow and brown and it kind of looked "softer", less bold than a wasp and also more round (no, it was not a honeybee). It made some really loud noise, kind of deep buzzing. What could it be?

You should also tell us where in the world you live. That makes a big difference, but without a photo it will be almost impossible to be certain wat you saw.
