18duroe = ed? And I always believed we had two young collectors on here, lol...
I also saw Lampides boeticus, plenty of Plebejus, and another larger Lycaenidae in the tree tops that I can't reach. In Pieridae there is also Eurema ssp. flying around and a larger Catopsila. In Nymphalidae I saw Aglais urticae and yesterday a fresh Hestina assimilis female that oviposited. A lot of the butterflies encountered were fresh and flying very slowly, I could have grabbed them with my hands. In the parks Macroglossum moths are visiting flowers.

Yes Claude, the two young collectors are both me! I’m not surprised at all that you are seeing Macroglossum as I encountered them in very large numbers while collecting in a cemetery in the outskirts of the city. I was also lucky to catch two Hemaris among all the macroglossum. If there are Hestina flying, you should try hanging a small fish on a tree trunk. They will come and land on the fish and are much easier to catch. Usually it it possible to buy a single small whole fish at the market. In Chongqing I used to get the expired small catfish from the local markets for free to use for bait. |

How old are some of you guys and gals? I am 73 years of age, I still retain almost all of my stunning good looks and every bit of my charm. And I am willing to bet some serious coin I can out do all of you in the field.
