I am looking for a good method for overwintering Ceratocampinae, right now I have C. regalis and E. imperialis that I raised. Please share your methods. So far i have not had much success.
Thanks, Tim

I keep most overwintering pupae (No Cocoons) in a tray of potting soil. I set the pupae in, not covered, with soil. I cover the pupae with leaves, ususally of the host plant. The trays are placed in a cage and over winter under my deck.
On warmer winter days I mist spray the pupae with water. As spring approaches I spray water on the pupae almost daily. By early April,I begin to check on the pupae several times a day.
Most pupae emerge before mid-July. However, I continue to monitor and spray water on the pupae. There are some pupae that never emerge. From pupae of wild collected larva I get more adult parasites than adults.
Keeping the pupae covered with leaf litter and everythingvmoist, my rate of emergence is near 90%. However, occasionally I will loose every pupae of some species. Not one emerges.
Keep the pupae covered naturally and moist. You will have better results.
