Hello,
could you help me with this Saturnidae ?
The seller writes HELICONISA CAINA but I think it's a mistake. Maybe a ITHOMISA
It comes from BRASIL SOUTH (RIO GRANDE DO SUL)
Thank you
Best regards

My guess is Ithomisa kinkelini - and it's a male .

Hi,
I was intrigued by the word CAINA that accompanied your image of Ithomisa kinkelini. I can find nowhere the species name caina being used with Ithomisa or Heliconisa, and Lemaire's listings are quite extensive.
Although it is not a complete surprise that Ithomisa kinkelini would be found in Rio Grande do Sul, I am wondering if the word CAINA is meant to refer to a location, Caina, in Parana, a Brazillian state northeast of Rio Grande do Sul. Lemaire does indicate Guarapuava, Parana, as a collection site for kinkelini. I am not aware of any locations known as Caina in Rio Grande do Sul.
Was Rio Grande do Sul indicated on the label that came with the specimen, or just southeastern Brazil?
I would like permission to post your kinkelini image, credited to you, to WLSS? Please send me a private email.
