Here are some pictures of species from the genus Lucanus. This is my favourite genus of beetles, just like Odontolabis Is it ok to post pictures of alive specimens or do they have to be dead? Lucanus cervus akbesianus, Turkey - 79mm Attachments:

This is Lucanus elaphus, from Tennessee. I usually encounter these near areas of mixed hardwood forest. The largest ones are typically around the 60mm mark. Tom

Can any one identify this Lucanus sp? Lucanus sp??? 58mm (Xiang Khoang, Laos) I got this sp mixed in with L. tibetanus from Laos but it's more like in-between L. fryi and L. tibetanus. Might be new??? Thanks if any one can help me identify it. Raymond

Lucanus cyclomatoides or formosus??? 45mm (Houa Phan, Laos) Any idea? nice one does not look like cyclommatoides though, I like L.c. turcicus its very wide... I thinks pictures of living specimens are better but, hey what ever you prefer/have is just fine...
