I've been noticing for a few days some bugs on my wall in my room, and on my bed.
At first I freaked out thinking they were bed bugs, but I researched those, and they don't appear to be what these are. I tore by room apart and cleaned it like crazy. The only place I found these things was on the underside of my box spring.
There were a bunch of them, none moving or seemingly alive.
I'm not sure if these were the bugs I've been seeing, or if it's some kind of stage or something, I don't know.
What on earth are these things? Sorry about the picture, it's as clear as I could get it. (attached)
It's much smaller than it appears in the picture. As you can see by the staples (which are about the same size as the ones you staple paper together with.)
I appreciate any help in finding out what these things are.

As I can see from the photo,it is a Dermestidae species(Coleoptera). They eat almost every dead organic material, including stored foods, insect collections not protected with camphor/vapona,etc.They are harmless for human.

I agree with bichos on this one - if you've got an insect collection you DEFINATELY don't want these around. Kill all the ones you can find and make sure you check any cabinets/drawers/storeboxes...topping up with PDB to kill the little buggers and napthalene to stop them coming back!!! Simon

Bichos is correct, assuming you collects insects. However I am willing to guess that you do not if you ca not already differentiate between insects of the orders Hemiptera (bed bugs) and Coleoptera (beetles). If you in deed do not collect insects, then they really don't pose much of a problem. They will not bite or sting you, and are generally unobtrusive.

Oh, but the larval hairs can embed themselves in your nose and eyes, and give you all kinds of problems, because they are spined. Go out and buy several bug bombs and set them off inside your house. Also, carpet powder for killing fleas helps, too. Jeff Prill

" Go out and buy several bug bombs and set them off inside your house. Also, carpet powder for killing fleas helps, too."
--> then no more dermestidae, but a very nice cancer...
Just leave them alone and clean your room to avoid them thriving. They won't pose any problem. They are not bed bugs.

They will however also attack any taxidermy you have so it is best to kill them anyway. In fact they will have a go at anything organic including paper and cotton, wool etc. Just get a can of Raid or similar and spray well. Dave

Another thing that I have found the larvae of these beetles feeding on is photographs. I have an old photo of one of my brothers, it was already framed, and one day I noticed an ugly trail eaten across it and there was one of these dermestid larvae under the glass. Fumigate because they are no just there for the warmth, they are eating on something.

...there's a fair bit of paranoia creeping into this thread...
I reckon some of you would die of fright if you lived here in Queensland... LOL

Hahaha...Quite funny I think, most of us in here loves insects or bugs, but afraid with this tiny little creature..?!
I think they lived there because of our own mistakes, or maybe it's a gods will, who knows..
Well, I agreed with all you guys, do what necessary to "control" it before its too late.
cheers
