Last summer, I had the pleasure to spend one week with Danny to chat about Delias and entomology in general. We spent also few days taking butterfly pictures in various parks of Indiana.
Indiana is a lowland state with no "rarities" but it is anyway very interesting for a European to discover American species. I will post here some examples and comments.
A big thank you to Danny for this great week !

Asterocampa celtis is much smaller than our European Apatura but they share the same behaviour and habitat. They can be found in large numbers in some forested area (unlike our Apatura which are rather rare except in Far-East Russia). This picture was taken on a bridge.

North American Polygonia are very nice and much bigger than their European relatives. I had the pleasure to meet Polygonia faunus in Quebec 10 years ago, here is a very nice Polygonia progne from Indiana.

and Colias philodiceThere were very few Pieridae species met. A surprise for any European entomologists who visits NA (same for Satyrinae and Lycaenidae). On the contrary, there are more Papilionidae than in Europe.

Epargyreus clarus is a very large Hesperiidae you cannot miss in Indiana. It is a very nice and large Hesperiidae unlike any European species. It reminds me some large Hesperiidae I saw in New Guinea.

Your "Chlosyne" is probably Phyciodes tharos. Your skipper is Pholisora catallus.
