Hey everyone, glad to be here. My name is ted, and while I currently know almost nothing about insects, I am completely willing to learn. That being said, I would like to know what insect this is, it was found in my backyard in Orange County, California. Thanks for any help given, and once again, glad to be here.

Looks to me like a grasshopper nymph.

Katydid nymph. It's difficult to tell the exact species when they are this young, but you can look up the different kinds of katydids that live in So. Cal and assume it will grow up to be one of those. And welcome to the forum. Travis
