it is a great spreading job, great work rounding those glass slides, for the most part, what you're doing is what I finally figured out what was the simplest and best way to spread them. Not many pins needed, as long as everything stays in place, including the slides.
I will take this time to ask- the time some of you leave specimens on the drying board seems like a long time, I just leave them on the board until the abdomen is stiff, and have never had an issue with things moving later on, sometimes I'll get some wing curl- is that what I'm missing?

The upper layer is 1 cm thick, which gives the right height for the specimen on the pin. If the upper layer is too thick the butterfly/moth would be too high on the pin or the pin wouldn't be pushed firmly into the bottom of the groove.
The other advantage of glueing a layer on top is that I can make boards with different width of grooves very easily.

No way!! I have a friend who seemingly reported that there was Cynthia in NJ, but I was very surprised and suspicious!

Indeed, the Cynthia moth is very much still present in New Jersey; albeit, in some very localized haunts.
Not all of the haunts are necessarily easy to access however, it still holds a toehold of existence here and hopefully will continue to remain...
To me, fresh specimens rival our native Luna moth in sheer beauty and grace !
I do hope I can acquire another three or four cocoons from someone out that way this winter as one supreme fresh hatch (as pictured) is not enough.

There's a known colony (couple of years ago) near a landfill in NJ. I forget the exact location. You can probably find the article discussing this via a quick google search.
