These black beetles were pretty common in Upper Michigan when i was there. It's about an inch long excluding legs and antennae. Pretty sure it's a Cerambycid but would like to know the species and what tree they feed on. Bradleigh Attachments:

If the eyes are hairy, and the pronotal surface smoother than the next species, with shallow depressions, and elytra dull with weak ridges, then it's Arhopalus rusticus obsoletus. If the eyes are not hairy, the pronotal surface irregular, with a pair of deep pits, and with the elytra having distinct ridges, then it is Arhopalus foveicollis. I couldn't tell that very easily from the photograph. Jeff Prill
