Parides childrenae chidrenae This is one of my favourite species of Parides and it was my main goal to find it on my trip to Costa Rica. I was not fortunate to find it but I acquired a pair after all. top male, bottom female both from Costa Rica

The correct name for arcas is eurimedes, because arcas is a junior homonym, so the specimen in the photo is Parides eurimedes mylotes.
Adam.

I have seen specimens with and without scent organs unfolded. Is this just personal preference?

Parides gundlachianus: I have never collected or laid eyes upon a living individual.
However, I saw a specimen in Irving Finklestien's collection way back when?? I think that specimen may be in the collection at the McGuire Centre in Gainesville, Florida?? Or wherever Irving collection ended up at??
I also saw one in a collection of specimens from Cuba during a Lep. Soc. Annual meeting in Quebec, Canada.(1982??) While living in South Florida and collecting extensively in the Florida Keys, I never saw or collected any exotic Lepidoptera from Cuba.

A couple of my favourite Parides from my collection, ascanius and hahneli, apologies for the poor picture quality.

Many thanks for posting the photos! Parides tros (Brazil) is another beautiful species, though I haven't seen it available quite so often as some others of the genus -

I have seen specimens with and without scent organs unfolded. Is this just personal preference? If possible they should be opened, as some species can be distinguished more easily by examining the scent fold. This also applies to Asian Troidini and Leptocircini too. Adam.
