For those interested there is a tri-fold dragonfly i.d. pamphlet out there to help in determining some of these fellows. Found this while on a trip to Florida last year. Although, it may be for Florida I would say that about roughly (1/2) the pictured species are things which I have seen (at one time or another) right here in the state of Illinois. I think its handy and certainly lightweight compared to any books you may wish to consult or carry along on a field excursion. However, there are an array of recent books within the last 10 years (or so) which certainly cover species in much more depth (if that's what you need). Seems there are a lot of Odonata enthusiasts out there !

I have the Texas version of that pamphlet. Maybe there are versions for other states.
