I agree with everyone on this thread. I have gone 3 times with my son from Wisconsin (2013, 2017 & 2020). We drove all 3 times and brought our own equipment and food. We stayed all 3 times at the hotel in Patagonia, which is also centrally located to many of the classic collecting spots. Many areas are easy to get to and I feel are very safe. When we went out to the far out places we went with local collectors that knew the area and where to set up. It is definitely a must do if you are an avid collector.
