Seek couldn’t give me anything on this one:
When I got near it it slithered away very quickly like a silverfish.

Looks like a caterpillar or grub of some sort. Immature insect larva...

Looks like a caterpillar or grub of some sort. Immature insect larva... There are some caterpillars that slither very quickly like silverfish? Can it be narrowed down in any way knowing that they’re living on and/or eating fungus?

It reminds me a bit of a Dermestid beetle larva, not identical but similar; so I suspect it is a larva of something.

I think you’re definitely correct about the larva. I searched through a bunch of images and found this which is simliar, but the head is different (small and segmented?) : bugguide.net/node/view/283591 I’ll keep looking. The one I videoed has distinct black markings around the front and head. Also there are no pincers (correct name?) unless they’re retracted?
