Coccinelidae are very difficult to identify from photographs. In some cases, you have to look at the genitalia, and other strange factors come into play. There are some keys that can be obtained:
Gordon, R. D.. 1985. The Coccinellidae of America north of Mexico. Journal of the New York Entomological Society, 95: 1-912.
Downie, N. M. and R. H. Arnett, Jr. The Beetles of Northeastern North America, Vol II. Polypahaga: Series Bostrichiformia through Curculionoidea. 1996. page 1037. The Sandhill Crane Press, Publisher An American Insect Project.
These may be available through Entomological Reprint Specialists Online, just google for them. Or go to the nearest University, obtain a courtesy card, or your local library and try to get them through interlibrary loan. Photocopy them, usually a University library prices photocopies at .10 per page. Usually worth it in the long run. Most of my library is photocopies. Jeff Prill
