Today, I visited one of the largest "county" fairs in my area. This one was in a rural setting and many contests or competitions are staged there every year in mid-September. Various livestock judging contests, baking contests (pies/cakes/cookies), horse-shoe pitching competitions, and a photography contest (several classes) are presented for lively enjoyment. One of the photography contest categories is animals. But, the caveat about the competition is that not only are the participants judged on their photo -- they are also given extra points for any imaginative or inspiring remarks placed beneath their photograph. This year 3rd place in the animals category went to our hard working but, humble honeybee (Apis mellifera). Enjoy...
