I have learnt that Catherine Aisi from the famous IFTA in Papua New Guinea passed away yesterday.
The IFTA was a PNG structure who provided interesting Ornithoptera and Delias for worldwide collectors in the 70ies, 80ies, making locals from various villages taking care of the environment to harvest local butterflies. The IFTA failed in the 90ies due to the extreme difficulty to run any long-term successful business in PNG (for various reasons that I won't develop here). Even if the IFTA closed, it has been an incredible experience and the source of a lot of great materials for worldwide insect collections in the past. Thank you Catherine for that !
For example, Delias bornemanni is now extremely hard to find, except old specimens from the IFTA.
RIP.

RIP indeed. Always sad to hear of a passing away. At least on Insectnet she will be remembered around the World.
