Here is same specimen I photographed at 0400 hours at my home, before it flew away. Appears to be adjusting antennae for better TV reception. Tylocerina nodosus (F.)

For several decades I placed bycatch insects into glass and plastic jars of 70% Isopropyl alcohol and shipped them to locations around the world. Here is an example of such bycatch lots in this case of cerambycids captured here at my home location. The volume of daily captures far exceeded my ability to process such materials, but I didn't want these specimens to just be discarded. It also helped pay for the operations involved to do the collecting.

Plinthocoelium suaveolens (Linnaeus) captured at fermenting fruit bait trap at the Abita Entomological study site, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, USA... Over the years, I've collected a number of specimens of P. suaveolens in my local area, but I have only ever found them on the trunks of their host tree (Sideroxylon lanuginosum). I've tried using fruit bait to attract them, but without success. Perhaps I wasn't using the ideal formulation?

abundant species at the AESS only captured in fermenting fruit bait traps, and moreoften only using fermenting banana bait (bananas, white sugar, regular beer).
