I never thought that I'd ever see a return to bell-bottom pants. They were popular in the 70's when I was a teenager. Young men and women wore them everywhere. I liked them. Splashy patterns were the rage of the late 60's. Why even Chrysler Corp. offered a "mod top" floral pattern vinyl top on your car if you so desired it ! Some customers did and real mc'coy survivor type cars are worth a bundle more having such a top. Albeit, it was not for everybody..... However, when you combine BOTH of these fashion ideas (splashy patterns/bell-bottoms) you can get some rather curious results. I just saw this tonight whilst I was out shopping with my wife. There they were at my local Von Maur store. What a "classic" combination: Butterflies and Bell-bottoms Oh' my....

Nostalgia: Just so happens I have several pairs of old bellbottom jeans that still have the original manufacturer tags on them and have never been worn. They are are sitting there untouched on hangers in a darkened closet since the late 1970s. The hardest thing to find back then were pants that were not bellbottoms. Looking further back in time, a decade earlier to the 60s, I don't remember there were any bellbottoms. For example, here is: 'The Missing Link' Spring 1967 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Vernon Antoine Brou Jr. on left. Though, those were memorable days back then playing 'ROCK Music". The best job I ever had during my entire lifetime was back then being 19 years old and single, a musician in a strip club on 'Bourbon Street' in New Orleans. Just so happens this club I worked at was run by 'THE MOB' back then. And recently I noted that 'The mob' has an even bigger presence there today with numerous 'mob-run' nightclubs, just a different set of mobsters running them.

I thought this was amusing and then I imagined an advertisement for khaki bell bottom cargo pants for the fashionable butterfly collector.... I do miss the Earth Shoes from that era though. They fit my feet well and then they were gone. I think there are knock offs out there today but they do not fit the same. That's as close as I ever got to 'hippyness.'

Back in 1968, some of you may recall tennis shoes, e.g. high-top Keds cost retail $2.00 a pair and were presented in a pile on a table and you knew which ones were matching pairs because the shoe strings of each pair were tied together. And there were no shoe boxes, nor dumb-ass million $$ endorsements from meaningless personalities that when they spoke were unintelligible English. But come to think about it, same situation occurs today, and now tennis shoes are $200.00 to $2,000.00 a pair.
Remember, sock hops where you took off your shoes and danced to do-wops in your socks, sliding around amongst the sawdust on the floors. Here I found one of those pics, I'm on the left in this photo from ~1965.

I’ll take yoga pants over bell bottoms. Not for me of course, neither one.

A lot of recycling going on, maybe all the best ideas have already been tossed around already- movies, music. Anyone under 50 is going to think it's something new.
Since I'm logged back in- as far as rock-n-roll... it reached perfection decades ago. Which decade is arguable as long as it's before '99.

Was this picture taken in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Hong Kong? The indoor scenery gives off that vibe. Sorry for being off topic.

Hello kuriouz321,
I actually saw this outfit in a high-end (expensive) clothing store about 1 hour drive outside of Chicago, Illinois., USA.
I posted it only because of the butterfly pattern utilized and the "bell-bottom" design; which has not been seen here since the decade of the 1970s (here).
It is an insect related topic which is why I posted it for its unique appearance.😊

Oh, they're back alright. "City" girls (young women) who like things Prada and Versace, wear them well. I'm not too sure that bellbottoms have caught on in the great countryside yet...
