As before the location is Malaysia. It doesn't seem to be harmful but I never know.

Thanks a lot! Since it's a wasp, does it sting when it wrongly perceives you as a threat?

They are not aggressive, but I suppose it may sting you if you try to pick it up with your fingers.
Adam.

I've not heard any reports of anyone having been stung by an Ensign wasp; it may possibly be that they can't sting at all. I once worked in a building where they were quite common (saw several of them nearly every day over the course of about 10 years), but was never stung by one.

I once worked in a building where they were quite common (saw several of them nearly every day over the course of about 10 years), but was never stung by one. The old "Botany and Zoology" building at Ohio State had 5 species of cockroaches running around. Because of all the live insect cultures in the building you just could not spray for control. I think the only thing keeping the populations in check were these wasps - which were likewise, pretty common throughout. John
