I've been trying to learn how to do image stacking. Here is my latest attempt. It was taken with my Canon A620 camera hand held. I made a cardboard adapter for my microscope to help align the camera, and I added a handle to the focus knob to aid in doing fine focus changes. I set the camera to repeat mode and hold the shutter button down while slowly changing the focus. I'm using CombineZP to do the stacking. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not bad for a home set-up! Could you please post a picture of your cardboard adapter to help with camera alignment? I've tried doing this hand-held before also without nuch sucess. Thx.

The adapter is a simple thing made from thin cardboard, Scotch tape, and white glue. It's sized to fit the front section of the camera lens and the microscope eyepiece. It took a couple tries to get it right. I couldn't hand hold the camera steady enough without it. Thanks for the comment.
