It may be a record wet month here, but the sun was out today and there are livestock offers popping up, my trees are doing the best they can, the fruit trees are blooming, and I've got a few things going and plans for some field time, being retired is handy, because I can stay at home on the weekends, when the weekend warriors flood the roads, sure, there are other people without jobs, but the great thing about having a car- I can go elsewhere.
I also wanted to comment on the Insect Fair topic, but my observation isn't really exactly entomology related. Reading about the fairs, and the list of events available in the EU is pretty amazing, maybe if I ever get back to Italy to visit my nephew I can take advantage, but the thing that just jumped out at me is one of the the differences in culture between the USA and the EU, that list of insect events looks like the list of gun shows for the year..in Oregon, I just find that one of the funny things about America, it reminds me of a time I was working for an English gentleman who was building a house in northern Calif. and at afternoon tea one day, which, was something you didn't want to miss in Humboldt, and John, the builder, asked the group about the groove on a Rambo style knife- he had no idea what it was for, well, 3 of us chimed in together. Very funny, maybe you had to be there, and John thought it was hilarious. So, at least we can find common ground with a butterfly net. I'm ready to get a little sun.
