Of course the *crowning jewel* of any Criminoptera collection would be the ever present, yet seemingly impossible to net, the Cameroonian Scamarus westernunionotis. They go for lots if you get a really big one.

Many cultures hold fast to an eye for an eye. quote] they should start it over here. For murder you get 8 years, after 5 you can be out...what a joke And today the Government have announced discussions to cut the sentence in half for rapists if they plead guilty meaning they could be out in 3 years!!! Whats always pi**ed me off is why do we (in the UK) let people out early for "good behaviour"!!! They should behave! Why not double it instead if they DON'T behave? Simon

..........Hmmmmmmm....... How about behavior modification through positive reinforcement? Every year you don't get convicted of a crime, you pay 1% less in taxes. 50 years and no crimes - you start getting paid........ Simplistic but I'm sure a politician could turn that into 1,000 or more pages in a day or so.

That's great, wingedwishes - they already do something like that in the States. When banks foreclose on someone's house, they often offer the former owner a couple thousand dollars to leave the place without trashing it! It's less expensive than having to do repairs.
Problem with the law-abiding-tax-credit idea - most criminals are young, don't pay taxes, and don't give a hoot anyway. BUT, if you rewarded the parents for their kids' behavior, you may get somewhere.

But Modesto - You could take away the huge tax "return" and only allow such a large hand out if no crimes are commited. Perhaps charge rent on free government housing projects if you ever get convicted. Mama would beat her kids into line if she knew she wouldn't get a check or free rent.
Sorry Ma'am, you can only buy oatmeal and unsalted crackers with those food stamps since you were caught selling crack cocaine last week. Oh if only we were in charge........

in England we have cases where burglars have broke into peoples houses only to be confronted by the owner brandishing nothing more than a kitchen knife but the innocent party got into trouble for having a dangerous weapon in the house and the robbing bastard got off free, it really has hit the bottom over here. What do they do to young offenders who have commited violent crime, send them on safari to Africa, at our expense of course, to "rehabilitate" them, they think that if you give these psycos a hug all will be well, how I wish I lived in cocooned upper/middle class England where its always fluffy white clouds and rainbows, they dont even know stuff like this goes on.
