Hello InsectNet,
Curious to hear if anyone has dealt with David Shaw before (Boones Mill, VA). Several recent postings and some last year. I tried to contact once before but only got a response that was something to the effect of-
"send money in advance, and quickly because it is first come first serve and I won't reserve" and doesn't accept paypal or anything "safe." Wondered how that works if I send money but everyone else beats me to it... so what? I'm just out the money then? Responded twice, but he never wrote back. Just the one message asking for money in advance for stock that was not guaranteed to be available, so I quit pushing the issue.
All of those things are easily explainable, but as I said, he never wrote back. Maybe that alone is reason enough to not use him? Poor customer service?
Appears to be legitimate, albeit non-communicative. Would love to hear if anyone else know this guy and what kind of experience you had. Thanks!

David Shaw is very reliable.
He is probably fed up with people who indicate they want something and then do not send payment (nothing implied regarding you, I just have had similar experiences with people making requests and then not following up with payments). In most cases the customers probably legitimately forget, but that is still a nightmare for someone trying to run a small business without a secretary.
I notice that he now accepts paypal, and so do I. I think he has actually been accepting Paypal for quite some time, and his posts indicate no Paypal fees, meaning that he accepts Paypal, but does not add a fee to total due, which varies based on quantity of eggs you might order, so he saves himself the job of doing a math calculation each time an order is placed.

Thanks Bill! I was really more put off by his non-response, which is understandable (we all get busy and forget things occasionally, as you said). The paypal use will help, I would've had no problem using paypal. At the time he was not accepting paypal so I just didn't want to send a check to someone who never responded to emails beyond the initial price quote as it is one of those "red flag" items we all worry about on the consumer end. From then on I simply skipped over postings he made which is too bad because we both lost out. Not anymore!
Thanks again Bill.
