Fellow Entomologists,
Does anyone have a northern/northeastern Lepidopterist contact who may be rearing/collecting Appalachian grizzled skipper (Pyrgus Wyandot) pupae? This is an endangered species, largely due to spraying for gypsy moth. I do believe my colleague hopes to reintroduce this butterfly onto a site where they are nearly extirpated for that very reason. Thank you for your help. Joe

I'm not 100% sure but touching an endangered species equals jail time for most....

I apologize for not being clear of my intentions. I am with the California Dept of Food & Agriculture doing work with the Gypsy Moth. My son in Virginia is an entomologist for the Department of Defense working with P. wyandot and he is looking for the Lepidopterist. You can reach me at: joe.martin@cdfa.ca.gov or my son at: chris.d.martin@navy.mil. I promise we won't go to jail.
