I have not heard back from him for some time now (three weeks) any one else experience difficulties communicating with him? I received A2 stock which was listed as A1, he was willing to make it right after returning from a trip...   |

He's been back about a month now, I'd guess. He came to visit me here in mid May, half way through his trip to Laos.

A less than professional "entomopro" I made the initial purchase on April 16th  with only one of the 5 beetle specimens actually being of A1 quality . One had a glued foreleg that was obviously from a smaller specimen. Another with chipped mandibles and missing tarsus...etc... I reported the damage and asked not for the specimens to be replaced or exchanged, in order to avoid extra freight charges for both parties. Rather I suggested a small discount or guarantee that my next purchase would contain A1 specimens as advertised in the website, I asked for a photo so I could judge for my self as I still want to acquire the material advertised but in A1 condition... he did reply as follows: I can do nothing at this moment. I am collecting Insects in Laos until June 6th. I will check this and write to you when i return home. NO I have not heard from him AT ALL, since he was in Asia.
I hope he's well and nothing happened to him, and if he is well shame on him for not resolving the issue...

Thank you for your response. Sorry to hear that he has not returned your e-mails. He has been responding to a few inquires recently about some butterflies he is offering for sale. I think I'll wait until he is "square with the house" before I 'll pursue any future dealings.

Hey you all, maybe would be interested in a classified add about Mr. Dion that I recently noticed ,posted by 'Florence Makanya' from Tanzania. For sure not all Africans are swindlers. This is the ad :

I think that a poor African,who 'sold' (finally donated without his willing..) to Mr.Dion the beetles which he collected with his sweat and difficulties down there in Africa, will never get his payment, which I imagine that he was needing for feeding his poor family there, while someone else(Mr.Dion) will earn easy money with the sweat of others, by going to the big insect-fairs of Canada and selling the unpaid beetles of the African..,posing there also as a well-known and respected insect dealer. Nice world..,congratulations ! As for you,bichos,sorry to say,but I'm afraid you have to learn to live with the A2 specimens that he sent you,and with being systematically ignored by him.. If I can remember correctly, Florence Makanya has been accused of not being honest in the old insect sellers forums. I wouldn't trust anyone that is quick to blame others that quick in the first place, and also, if I want to support a starving african insect seller, then I would if there was one that is actually realiable, and wouldn't demeand an outrageous pre-payment for crummy bugs or none at all. That is just my opinion. Bichos, good luck with hearing from Yves, and I hope you get your bugs.

I don't actually know him other than having asked for his price list a few years ago, and he was only here because he was travelling with Steeve Collard. I can't say I was impressed by his friendliness or big wallet. I sent him my exchange list in advance of his visit (I will sell specimens on the list for Paypal payment, so I can use the funds to buy elsewhere), but he bought absolutely nothing, major dealer that he is. Do French Canadians ever smile by the way? Adam. |
