Hi all, some time ago I got these two specimens of P. bianor bianor. Both are labeled from China: Up: Liaoning, July 2005 Down: Sichuan, July 2006 Are they summer and spring forms respectively? It's strange, being both from the same month... Thanks! Attachments:

They are both summer form, but the specimen from Liaoning is not bianor but dehaanii, a different species.
Papilio dehaanii dehaanii gets as far south as "Tsingtao" (Shandong Peninsula) and overlaps with bianor in NE China.

I see. I've been cheated on.
Thanks Adam.

Well, the Chinese dealers don't know the difference and call them all bianor anyway. The split of dehaanii and bianor into separate species is quite recent, and confirmed by DNA analysis (Yagi et al. 2006).
