Well, here's a potentially interesting topic... I noticed quite a few of you here on InsectNet have at least some musical experience with the guitar or other stringed instrument. I myself am an amateur musician suffering from G.A.S (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome). What I'd like is for everyone to share with me their most favorite instrument. Or... If you're feeling generous, you can show off your entire collection if you wish. As for me, I'm just gonna start with my favorite axe... Her name's Precious... Here's also a video of a small concert I played in 2010. A tribute to the late Blues King, Gary Moore! Rock 'em in heaven, Gary... Attachments:

Unusual pickup for a Strat there Khalid, one of your own modifications I assume? A Humbucker?

Actually, they are making Strats with double humbuckers, nowadays, for heavier playing. In fact, I even saw one with EMG pickups, that totally rocked out when I played it, and they were standard issue. Jeff Prill

Actually, I bought this secondhand as it is for dirt cheap from some guy who needed money for his flight tickets to the US. Apparently, its a '56 Strat that's been completely torn apart. The only thing original about it that's left is the neck pickup, some hardware like the neck plate which bears the serial number and the machine heads, the pickguard, and all the wood and what's left of the factory Surf Green finish. The rest is I'm either unsure of or they're obviously modifications.
A Floyd Rose was slapped on at some point, the middle pickup is a DiMarzio, the bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan 59, the circuitry includes television and radio pots as well as an input jack from a hi-fi set... Entire wiring is clearly homemade. The maple neck has been completely worn out, some serious re-fretting needed, fingerboard has been scalloped... The whole neck has been so burnt by the now completely gone nitrocellulose finish it looks like its completely made of Rosewood! There isn't the slightest bit of nitrocellulose left anywhere on this guitar.
I wonder who's the asshole who had the balls to destroy such a classic... At least, I know its in good hands now... MY HANDS. It chimes like a bell, too! ...and weighs like three bowling balls!

Nice video but don't look that much at your guitar when you play. For me it is the opposite, I practiced so much to not look at the guitar that I get confused when I look at my fingers when playing I do have a cheap black Rhandy Roads signature (the most basic model) and an Ibanez VBT700 in white.

Well I am not a guitar man, but I had to say I enjoyed your video.
I really liked the fact that you didn't have to go ballistic on it and be all wild and crazy. You used it to perform real music and were a part of the music as opposed to banging out a bunch of noise/crazy antics like I see so often.
I also liked your use of vibrato. You mixed it in quite well, thus there was balance.
Just my thoughts....

Just watched the video Khalid, dude, you rock! One of my favourite Gary Moore pieces, I learnt the first half then gave up. Way beyond my capabilities as a bassist! Bill, you should hear the original, Gary Moore was not all about going ballistic, that man could make a guitar sing like a bird and Khalid did a pretty fair rendition but the sound quality left a little to be desired.

I don't mean to brag, but a lot of the older and more experienced guitar players all say I've got very good tone for someone my age. Personally, I never really worked on it. I just like the feeling of gripping the neck and strings hard.

Yeah, the sound quality is ### 'cause it was recorded with camera without any mics or sound cards. Although, I'm hoping to get it recorded soon... and I'll make sure all of you get a sample!
