Hello everyone - I placed an order with Insect World recently. Ten days have passed and the status still says 'not set'. I'm assuming this means they haven't processed my order.
Has anyone else had problems with their integrity or timeliness? I had thought they were trustworthy, but I am now wondering a bit.
Thanks, Aragwen

I'd say if it doesn't pan out for you, try purchasing bugs fom Insect-Sale or Ianni. they are pretty good dealers. So is Tropical Insects of America. Good luck.

I have known Dave DeRosa for nearly 30 years and he has always been up front and reliable. I have had periods where I have tried to make contact and he has been over burdoned with family members who have medical problems. I have left sever phone messages and sent email that have been unanwered last fall. I would keep trying to make contact. He never anwsers his phone, but has an answering machine. Perhaps you can leave a message. I am sorry to hear that there have been problems with Insect World.

I am still waiting for an order I made with Insect World about two weeks ago. I have not heard anything since. I sent an e-mail a couple of times since last Friday with no response. Having said that, I placed an order with Insect World back in December and he was very prompt in proccessing and sending my specimens. He was very courteous and prompt with his e-mail repsonses. It took seven days from the time I ordered to the time I received them. I am hopefull that he has been just busy and will eventually come through with the order.

I have always received excellent specimens from Dave at Insect World. But it does seem that in the last few years he has been called away from home, delaying his shipments. He does answer emails when he gets back

I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to say that the shipment came through and everything was great. Definitely a good seller, and I have bought from him again since!

I have bought insects from Dave at Insect World for over 35 years. Always good quality, good service, and Dave backs his bugs up. I have no hesitation in recommending Insect World as a great supplier.

UPDATE on Dave DeRosa of Insect World, San Diego: I saw Dave at the Cal-Poly Insect Fair last weekend. He is alive and well and doing a brisk business, but he has been having to take care of his ailing parents for the last year or so. He told me that his parent's condition is serious and he is the only family member available to take care of them. This situation caused him to fall behind on some business because his dad was living 600 miles away and he had to do a lot of traveling. I think his dad passed away and now his mom has moved in with him. She is very elderly.
So anyway, I want to assure you traders out there that Insect World is one of the best specimen dealers in the world. If there was any interruption of services or slow responses to your emails, Dave apologizes to you and he is now getting back up to speed. If there are any unfinished transactions he says to please contact him and he will try to make it right.
