Hi All, Can anyone identify this Caligo from Colombia for me? I'm not up on Brassolidae at all.. By the way - I don't have the butterfly yet so can't post a picture of the underside if this is needed to ID it. Thanks in advance, Simon Attachments:

This specimen appears to be a female Caligo oielus. This female is quite nice.

Sorry for the typo. I believe the specimen is a female Caligo oileus. My spelling & typing suffers from old age and fat fingers.

You should see my collection Simon, I have most of the genus. I'd love to Dave! I'm more into my Papilonidae (...and Saturniidae...and British stuff...and Ornithoptera...and... ) and am just getting into these in a big way. I've not really done a lot of "hunting" for these on the net but they seem reasonably available and also reasonably priced compared with some other stuff. The only draw back is the amount of space they take up in the cabinet!!! Simon

"The only draw back is the amount of space they take up in the cabinet!!!" Oh, and Saturniidae and Papilionidae take up so little space don't they? ;D

One reason why I make my own cases. Bigger cases mean more specimens stored. Jeff Prill
